Not only CDMX, the Jalisco government canceled the year-end event due to COVID-19

Enrique Alfaro , Governor of Jalisco, announced that the massive event that was prepared to celebrate the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022 will be canceled due to the health contingency that continues to plague the state.

Through social networks, Alfaro Ramírez explained this Wednesday, December 29, that his administration will not run the risk that citizens are exposed to an agglomeration that causes an uncontrolled outbreak of COVID-19 .

Through his official Twitter account, the head of the local executive gave "an important message" , in which he recalled that after "such long and hard months due to a pandemic that is not yet over", he pointed out that the year of properly, because it was possible to celebrate Christmas as it had not been done for a long time and have stable numbers in the face of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, "but we cannot trust each other" .

“ We have decided to cancel the event that we had scheduled to celebrate the end of the year in the heart of the city . In Jalisco we have always acted prudently and made decisions in time to save lives. This cannot be the exception”, reported the governor.

At the end of his announcement, he wished everyone "that the wishes of a better New Year are fulfilled by taking care of ourselves, with awareness and avoiding the greatest possible risks." Likewise, he requested the dissemination of this tweet to avoid the agglomeration that was expected in Guadalajara , the capital municipality due to the end of the year.

On his behalf, the Ministry of Health ( SSa ) issued its Technical Report on the progress of the COVID-19 disease in Mexico. For the information cutoff at 5:00 p.m. (Central Mexico time), 5,290 new infections and 188 deaths were registered on the last day .

This means that since the pandemic began in the republic , there have been 3,961,662 accumulated confirmed cases and 299,132 total deaths from the new strain of coronavirus. There are also 581,630 suspected cases and an estimated 27,820 active cases .

The health authorities also specified that the incidence rate of accumulated cases is 3,071.7 per 100,000 inhabitants . Regarding the distribution by sex of confirmed infections, there is a predominance in women with 50.2%, the median age is 39 years.

In addition to this, Alfaro Ramírez 's agenda has been saturated, since the politician recently filed a lawsuit for alleged non-material damage against journalist Ricardo Ravelo , who accused him of having links with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel ( CJNG ).

According to Ravelo Galó, “I wouldn't have enough ink or paper to write about so much political and criminal corruption. Alfaro alone is a book of 800 pages. And I fall short " , because there are several accusations against him that have come to light after the witness gave him information about Alfaro's business, since he and his family are allegedly involved in a criminal network .

Consequently, the governor took legal action against the communicator who pointed out that in addition to the claim for non-pecuniary damage, he has suffered threats from Enrique Alfaro . The latter was denied by the militant of Movimiento Ciudadano ( MC ), but he did admit proceeding in court.

“ There is no threat, the only thing there is is a lawsuit in process for non-pecuniary damage , according to law, against a lying journalist who has to be held responsible for his words”, reiterated Alfaro Ramírez.
