People who wear black are smarter

It is a fact that the black and white pairing will always be a great style success regardless of the event in which it is used. These are the favorite colors to look professional and sophisticated without much complication. The Duchess of Cambridge, for example, showed it to us not so long ago on her most recent tour of Pakistan, where she was seen wearing quite relaxed and sophisticated outfits.

However, this basic knowledge of fashion that, thanks to our grandmothers, has been passed from generation to generation, is now statistically verifiable thanks to a study carried out by the site BuyT-ShirtsOnline.com.uk, a company that carries several casual clothing brands, including Fruit of Loom, Dickies or American Apparel. This company conducted a survey of more than 1,000 people on color perception.

The results certainly yielded some very interesting data, as shade black was shown to be the most viable option when it comes to first impressions and important appointments. According to the perception of the people surveyed, black adds sophistication, intelligence, sensuality and confidence to everyone who wears it, but it also tends to be interpreted as a color that denotes arrogance.

Of the people surveyed, 56% chose black as a trustworthy color and one that makes a good impression; specifically, 48% of women and 64% of men.

It was also discovered that the most used shades to dress for a romantic date are white, black, blue and red. Although, it is also mentioned that the color decision of the other person has an influence on this factor, that is, people find a person attractive because of the color of her clothes if she also selects the same colors as her . On the other hand, brown, orange and pink tones are the least associated with intelligence.

Furthermore, pink was perceived as an unprofessional shade and only 5% of those surveyed responded that intelligent people wear pink in their clothing.

Although the survey data was subtracted from the subjective perception of those surveyed, we found data from academic studies, such as that of the University of Liverpool in 2010, which generally positions to the colors red and black as the most attractive.

However, the psychology of color includes an infinite number of factors that can influence the perception and interpretation of the person who observes it. Therefore, there is nothing better than basing ourselves on our personality and own style when selecting the colorimetry of our look for the day. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable with the clothes and colors you wear.
