Logistics crisis, what most marked the increase in urban transport

“Everything is very expensive”, that phrase sums up the feeling of many Colombians when they talk about the effort that lately involves covering the basic basket in their homes.

Therefore, there are several discussions that are taking place in this auction of the year and that will have a direct impact on domestic finances.

One of them is the rate adjustment in bus tickets; an issue that has officials and transporters in Medellín negotiating with a view to determining how much they will charge users in 2022.

This is an increase that, according to the accounts of the Association of Transporters of the Aburrá Valley (Asotransva), will be applied to the nearly 680,000 passengers who, on average, are moving every day in the capital of Antioquia. This figure, according to the union, is key in the conversation, since before the pandemic they moved about 1,100,000 people between Monday and Friday.

This decrease in users caused by the pandemic, opened up a patrimonial “hole” for them that adds up to more than $760,000 million and that, according to Juan Gonzalo Merino, president of Asotransvaa, has been like a block in the ankle that does not let them out of the pond in who are drowning.

Thus, the union leader considered that the increase in the ticket in 2022 should be in the order of $200 in order to make the operation profitable and avoid the destruction of more jobs.
