21 ideas for the future that will mark 2021 - Forbes Spain

2021 is the year in which all the ideas driven by the acceleration of digital transformation come to fruition. And they multiply, because the innovation virus is also "contagious" quickly.21 ideas for the future that will mark 2021 - Forbes Spain 21 ideas for the future that will mark 2021 - Forbes Spain

Based on the forecasts provided by the Meticulous Research report (published in June 2020), the digital transformation market would be worth $3.294 billion by 2025, which represents annual growth made up of 22.7% compared to 2019. There are hundreds of ideas with transformative potential that fight to remain at the forefront, almost all based on technology, which has experienced its particular redemption with the emergence of COVID-19, because at Contrary to the opinion of its detractors, yes, technology has brought people closer than ever.

Technology vs. people

It has also given rise to what some experts call the “digital paradox”. It is disturbing that, once the immersion in the digital era is assumed and undergoing a profound transformation process, technology advances faster than its creators, people.

The backbone from which everything moves, is revolutionized, in short... is transformed, are people. Everything starts from them and any technological innovation has its final impact on them. Therefore, companies are required to focus more on processes, adopt greater flexibility in the face of resistance to change and involve all the people who make up an organization in all stages of corporate culture.

If we look at the cruising speed established by the digital environment, we again find an important contradiction. In Spain, only 31% of individuals have sufficiently advanced digital skills to adequately face this digital transformation, while 23% have basic digital skills, according to data from the XVIII edition of the annual Digital Society in Spain report. , made by Fundación Telefónica. Experts point to a notable lack of training in digital skills on the part of a society that is facing a revolution generated by technology and this causes headaches when it comes to adapting, widening the digital divide by certain groups of population.

More accessible technologies

In this change that has brought new ways of thinking, designing, solving, acting and assuming leadership according to circumstances, technology becomes more accessible, because it should be so. On the other hand, it is important to reflect on the change in infrastructure for which so many companies decided to turn, which have integrated in 2020 solutions with high costs, great capacity and perhaps, above their needs. In 2021, many companies will once again face the reality of focusing on the medium term, rebalancing and deciding on other tools that suit their particularities, without losing agility.

At this point, it is worth asking, what makes an innovative idea?

Possibly, we all agree that it is closely related to the fact of generating impact, business or value, but if we go further, innovation has to be open. It has to arise to solve challenges that can be extrapolated to others and end up connecting other ideas, other ecosystems, other people. Again, it has to be diverse.

Only then can it work.

And despite the fact that from the beginning of this article we want to highlight the differentiating role of technology, innovation can arise in a non-technological way and continue to exist. The cultural transformation always comes before the technological one. It can occur in the commercial field, in the models of any productive sector, but it needs to materialize. All of us are capable of creating great ideas, but it is necessary to execute it and for the idea itself to be born with a very clear differentiating AND.

Transformation, a long-distance race

Forbes magazine has selected 21 ideas with transformative potential, which have been adapted, developed and promoted by 21 companies that have the qualities to create a real impact, in the environment that surrounds them, assuming this 2021 as the next stage of this long-distance race that is transformation.

All these companies are developing initiatives that present new functionalities, solve challenges in their respective sectors and provide solutions to the needs of different areas of society, many of them overcoming the handicap that the consequences of the coronavirus brought with them for their own survival. Under the umbrella of health, education, sustainability, without ignoring sectors such as hotels or cosmetics, they have made an effort to encourage the use of digital technologies, transforming current business processes and getting closer to the customer.

Business resilience reveals that by 2022, 65% of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be digitized and will generate more than 6.8 billion direct investments from 2020 to 2023. That same year, 75% of corporations will have marked their roadmaps with the implementation of digital transformation, compared to 27% today.

Reorientation of objectives

In this future directed towards consolidated digital management systems, Forbes already recognized in its annual ranking of the 2000 private companies in the world: Global 2000, that 60% of the Organizations will change their management orientation from processes to results, establishing faster, more innovative and empathetic operating models, because, as we have already mentioned, 60% of companies will invest significantly to digitize the experience of their employees in order to transform (and improve) your relationship with them.

This 2021, 30% (at least) of companies will accelerate innovation to support this reinvention of operating models, prioritizing transformation programs, just as in 2025, 75% of business leaders will be able to take advantage of the capacities of their ecosystems to adapt value chains to new markets, industries and opportunities. Also, the combination of digital with social and environmental responsibility, will give the green light to the birth of projects enabled in a sustainable way that will serve as inspiration and example of new ideas launched by professionals from all sectors.
