More than 70 police without pants

The Local Police of El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz, 88.000 inhabitants) does not have pants, according to the majority union of this municipal body.A week ago that most of the workforce goes to your job with your private pants (and the regulatory garments only waist up);automatically, the mayor tells them that of that guise they can't patrol. Conclusion: more than 70 agents - 80% of the personnel dedicated to patrolling - have since stopped. This controversy is the nth of a body directed by Rafael Muñoz, the mayor who insulted - and has recently done it - to members of the government in social networks.

“The last pants were given to us in the summer of 2017.Since then, nothing, when they had to give us some summer every year and winter those every two years, ”denounces one of those responsible for the UPLB-A union-the majority of the body-who prefers to stay in anonymity. The situation has worsened following the new cleaning protocols by the COVID-19, which forces workers to wash the uniforms more frequently and at a higher temperature.Fed up with remembrance and even "borrowing" garments from police from other nearby municipalities, according to the same agent, the municipal ones were planted on April 30, the day on which most officials began to go with their own pants, both jeans and tracksuit.

The day was not accidental, it was just the day in which hundreds of bikers from all over Andalusia began to congreg. The absence of agents became evident with improvised races in those days and has become evident in successive days, in which there are barely police officers in the patrol of streets, surveillance in the municipal tank of vehicles, the tickets or exits of the schoolsor the non -urgent requests of citizens.“The call letter is full of‘ it cannot be attended due to lack of troops ’.We are going to our job and meet the day, but the boss [the mayor Rafael Muñoz] does not serve us because we are not regulation, ”explains another agent.

The lack of uniforms shakes a municipal police who have already been involved in other controversies. In 2019, the City Council - then governed by PSOE and IU - requested that the money be returned to the 269 people that a single agent fined in one morning. But the greatest scandal was starring in May 2020 the mayor and head of the Local Police, Rafael Muñoz, then using his Facebook profile - open - to insult members of the Government and call “communist of shit” to the then vice president Pablo Iglesiasand "Drunk" to Fernando Simón, director of the Coordination Center for Alerts and Health Emergencies. After repenting and deleting his profile at the request of the City Council, Muñoz weeks ago returned to the load and, this week, called the leftist candidates to the community of Madrid "rats".This same Thursday, UPLB-A has registered a letter in the City Council denouncing that the boss smokes “Habanos” inside the Headquarters."We are fed up with passivity and chulería.After the insults nothing was done.We ask to act responsibly and responsibilities are refined, ”they claim from the union.
