The 90s return to our lives and with them garments such as straight jeans, white shirts and vests. Enthroned by Kate Moss herself, this latest garment, initially with masculine overtones, is here to stay. Of course, his way of carrying it in the 2021 code is somewhat particular. Gabriela Bilbao, TELVA stylist and one of the people who uses this garment the most, tells us, in detail, about its user manual. "For years I have been addicted to vests, I love them, I find them in flea markets, second-hand stores, well-known closets..." Gabriela Bilbao, a stylist for TELVA, and one of people with a more personal look from the newsroom. Little given to buying in stores, Gabriela has been building a wardrobe that is as particular as it is non-transferable. Do not try to imitate her because you will not succeed.

Able to tie a knot in a sarong and turn it into the coolest skirt of the moment or rescue a jacket from her father's 70s closet and make it look like a Balmain, the stylist has found another of her hallmarks in the vest: "My style has always been quite masculine and I have found in the vest the perfect accessory for my more neutral looks," he says.

The tuxedo vest

In her closet, Gabriela has several styles. "As with everything in life in terms of clothing, you always have to start with the versatile classics, that's why I chose a tuxedo type from Zara that serves as your first option to go informally. In this case, my favorite combination is cowboy and leather perfect.

But this same vest, Gabriela has also come to use it for much more elegant outfits. "For the latter, I am always inspired by Ricky Lauren (shirt and tie). Along the same lines, I also like to wear, with nothing underneath, one inherited from my mother with a gray pinstripe."

Ethnic aesthetics

"I bought the second of my favorite vests at a market in Ibiza, it's made of leather, by Roberto Cavalli. I love its print. I've been a true lover of aesthetics since I was little Indian, Moroccan, tribal..."

For this model, Gabriela has a very particular trick, combining skin with skin ("It must be because of my father's biker influence"). On the other hand, and as she herself confesses, Gabriela would be nothing without her sarongs: "As soon as the sea is in the way, I can't conceive of dressing in anything else. A vest with a sarong is my uniform for the whole summer (breakfast, lunch and dinner )," he says.

One more stylistic confession from the TELVA stylist of which we took good note: "In my vests I could not miss the Indian embroideries, I have several, I love them."

The knitted vest

Lastly, Gabriela has chosen the knitted vest. "It's the one I use the least, but it's very present this season," she says.

"I have a dirndl that I bought for three euros in a thrift store that is very funny. I have chosen the same type of vest in two colors. I like to combine them in the most basic way, less is more." As she herself concludes: "There are days when I can only go with basics and in neutral tones, I need a break from my baroque style."
