080 Barcelona Fashion has started its 26th edition, in digital format, with the first session of Fashion Show Films. The proposals by the firms Menchen Tomas, Júlia G Escribà, All that she loves and Mans have inaugurated the catwalk in the historic Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site.

Margherita Maccapani Missoni, newly appointed creative director of Missoni and the writer and children's activist Lisa Lovatt-Smith have starred in a "Fashion Talk" on sustainability and social responsibility and on the new challenge facing the designer after returning to the family business.

Inauguration

Menchen Tomas has been the firm in charge of inaugurating the digital catwalk with the “Reflections” collection. The proposals that the Catalan designer has presented in this 26th edition are based on the transformation of dark and confusing images into pure colours.

With a very emotional staging, the collection mainly presents a selection of elegant long haute couture dresses, in dark colors and at the same time bright tones to represent said transformation.

Thermoregulatory collection

This was followed by the young designer Júlia G Escribà with JGE Future Term, her first thermoregulatory collection, with technology developed for NASA, thus committing to the climate emergency and making use of fabrics based on sustainability and textile engineering.

With an urban style and a personal and innovative design, the firm has mainly presented cotton garments in stone and earth colors where straight lines predominate. The proposals have been accompanied by a wonderful spatial staging, with a large moon as the protagonist of the scenery.

Color and sensations

The swimwear brand & intimates, All That She Loves, with her signature “tie dye”, has flooded the catwalk with color and sensations with her #ATSLS21 collection. Original swimwear proposals, such as bikinis with plush, leotards with shorts and jumpsuits as the star piece, where high-quality polyamides predominate in different structures: smooth, ribbed, embossed and neoprene.

The elastic fabric metallic in gold and silver, overdyed on top, and the totally organic cotton fabrics in the accessories also stand out. The show ended by linking the collection with metallic garments.

The first day of 080 Barcelona Fashion Digital Edition has concluded with the SS21 collection by Mans, the ready-to-wear and tailoring firm by Jaime Álvarez. For this season, the designer has been influenced by the attitude of the characters portrayed in the images of the American photographer Slim Aarons.

In the gardens of the historic Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, a selection of dressing gowns and tuxedos with the brand's own prints have been presented. The collection transports us to the parties of an idealized society in locations ranging from Capri to Palm Springs, passing through the gardens of Marrakech.

The pieces are accompanied by hats from the Tolentino Hats brand, taking us back to the time when the photographs of Slim Aarons were captured.

“Tech Talk”

The first digital edition of the event kicked off with a “Tech Talk” by Hernán Camps, CEO and co-founder of Robinbrick.

A talk about those technologies and new services that are helping the fashion retail sector to improve and capture the knowledge of the seller as a source of value data (“sales assistant centric organizations”) and convert this data into actions that they also serve small retailers in the evolution towards the smart store to sell more and better.

Camps has commented that "the most exciting thing about technology is the data it collects" and added that, for him, it is essential to analyze the customers who enter a store to get to know the consumer well.

He has also talked about the new sales trend with "streaming" services to complement the online customer experience with a more human approach.
